Top 10 Benefits that PROVE Massage Works

Massage therapy offers many benefits! Here at Aspire, our massage therapy service is typically offered in two forms, relaxation massages and therapeutic massages. Each of these styles provide their own unique benefits and experience for clients that receive them.

Relaxation massage is a form of massage therapy that involves light pressure and flowing, rhythmic movement patterns. This massage type is designed to help any stress and anxiety melt from your body. It is a fantastic option for anyone who may be looking to find a way to de-stress after a long, hard week! Relaxation massages also help lower blood pressure, improve circulation, and reduce muscle tension.

In contrast to relaxation massages, therapeutic massages involve deeper, targeted pressure delivered to areas of high muscle tone or reported discomfort. This massage type is aimed at reducing pain and movement dysfunction by alleviating the tension held in muscles. By eliminating muscular contractures and reducing tone, therapeutic massages can increase the mobility of a particular joint or region of the body, as well as decrease pain. (These massages are also known as deep-tissue massages!)

10 Benefits of Massage:

  • Pain relief
  • Stress and anxiety relief
  • Lowers blood pressure
  • Breaks down old scar tissue
  • Reduces muscle tension
  • Improves circulation
  • Increasing mobility / range of motion
  • Headache and migraine relief
  • Increases lymph flow
  • Releases endorphins and enhances mood!
  • And more…

Prior to the beginning of a massage therapy session, your registered massage therapist (RMT) will discuss what sort of treatment you are looking to receive. Make sure to let them know what you are hoping to achieve with your massage, whether that be stress relief, pain relief, increasing your mobility, or any other goals you may have! It is also important to let them know how much pressure you can tolerate. Although therapeutic massages can sometimes be uncomfortable, they don’t have to be! Your massage therapist will be more than happy to accommodate you and your particular needs.

Unsure about which type of massage is best for you? Reach out to one of our team members at 780-540-1115 and we will be happy to help you figure it out!
